WEAVING SPACES
A museum is an archival of things that are precious and have historical value and context to them which need to be preserved. It is a space that focuses on all the specimens placed under controlled lighting and display. A textile museum is where garments, hangings, and other weaving patterns can be displayed.
The site is in Paithan, a small town famous for its textile ( Paithani saree). It is a tourist attraction and so, the design intent was to create a textile museum, which allows visitors to know about the history of the Paithani saree and the textile manufacturing process, and the machinery required.
A weave is the main part of the textile. The unique form of the weave creates different fabrics and textures. Thinking of weave as an important part of the textile industry, I thought of my design with the idea of the weave. I looked into unique patterns of weaves and looked into the patterns and overlaps of the weave.

I developed the form considering the different weaves practiced in textiles. The weave pattern creates overlapping spaces which give an opportunity for vertical connection and also creates a curiosity for users to visit the entire space while experiencing every bit. This creates an opening that allows light to enter and the wind to flow.
